WELCOME TO. WWW.CURACAOGALLERY.COM

Curaçao is a Caribbean island, just off the coast of Venezuela, and is the largest island of the NETHERLANDS ANTILLES, an autonomous part of the Dutch Kindom. This Dutch relationship makes this island unique and is reflected in many ways in our culture, society and architecture. The Curaçao population consists of more than 40 ethnic groups, the largest being the descendants of African slaves, but also of Dutch kolonials, Sephardic and East European Jews, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabs and many more. Except for the slaves all these people arrived voluntarly on the island to build up a new future, under protection of the democratic Dutch Government and Constitution and away from their often troubled homeland.

This variety of cultural orientation is very much reflected in the island's everyday life, but if you look closely, a uniting Caribbean element is present almost everywhere. It is this uniting element that makes the Caribbean Artists unique, and this is often what photographers look for when taking pictures of this colorful island and it's natural habitat.
